Raoul Dufy personally selected these particular paintings and asked us to make them available to those concerned with the advancement of medicine. They are tokens of his deep appreciation for the dramatic help he received with cortisone in effectively controlling the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Tree years of productivity and pleasure were added to his life, and the world is richer by some 200 paintings (including those herewith) than it otherwise would have been.
We are proud that we supplied the cortisone used in M. Dufy’s treatment and are grateful that the artist selected us to bring his gracious gift to you. /Merck & Co.,Inc”
